Watertown Project — Cedar Deck in Chanhassen, MN
Built for the Watertown Family
Serving Chanhassen and Surrounding Areas
the Watertown family in Chanhassen came to us wanting a Cedar Deck that would actually hold up in Minnesota — not just look good in spring but take real winters without cracking, warping, or needing constant maintenance. This is what we built. The photos show the finished product; the work underneath it is what makes it last.
Cedar handles Minnesota's climate better than most wood options — its natural oils resist moisture absorption, which is what causes wood to crack and warp through freeze-thaw cycles. Left alone it'll silver to a soft grey over a few years; stained or sealed it holds color well. It costs more than pressure treated, but it's a better long-term material that doesn't require the chemical treatment PT does.
