While working as full-time teachers in the Eden Prairie School District, a pair of teachers joined forces and created “Two Teacher Construction.” We began building decks under the summer sun to earn some extra income. Along the way we lost one of the “two teachers.” Nevertheless, original owner Steffan Madsen continues the business with his wife Shelly and has built Two Teacher Construction, Inc. into a highly reputable year round deck building company recognized by the BBB as an A+ rated company.
With the continued success and growth of the business, Steffan retired from teaching Technology Education (Shop) in 2017, after 26 years of service with Eden Prairie Schools. Now Steffan has more time to continue to expand the quality of the business and keep up with the ever changing technology in construction today.
By teaching and training our own employees, we are able to maintain high quality standards on all of our projects. Our customers have voted Two Teacher Construction, Inc. winners of the Readers Choice Award four years in a row and consistently provide high ratings on Angie’s List and Next Door App.
Two Teacher Construction was incorporated in 1996.

I am married to Shelly Madsen, who runs the office and books all appointments for Two Teacher Construction.
We have a high school age son, Trey, who loves Hockey and Soccer.
I am an Eagle Scout.
I Graduated from Moorhead State University with BS. Degree in Industrial Education and a Minor in Construction Management.
I Graduated from University of Wisconsin - Stout - with a MS. Degree in Technology Education.
I retired in 2017 after teaching Technology Education in Eden Prairie for 26 years.
I sponsor Mound Westonka High School Hockey and am a Boosters member.
I coach Youth Soccer within the community.
I participate in Mens Hockey and Soccer Leagues.
