The Determan Project

Built in Mound, MN

Every board on this Cedar Deck in Mound was measured, cut, and finished on-site by our own crew. The Determan came together over a few days from layout to final inspection, and it's built to hold up through whatever Minnesota throws at it.

Western red cedar is the wood most MN deck builders default to for good reason. It's naturally rot- and insect-resistant, takes stain well, and looks genuinely good as it ages. It's not the cheapest option, but it sits at a practical middle point between pressure treated and composite — better performance than PT, lower cost than most composite products.
